Our Program at a Glance
The Nerdist School is dedicated to ensuring equality in opportunities and transparency in our administrative work.
We do so through school assemblies, diversity meet ups, and giving students, performers, and writers the voice to change the theater’s inner-workings!
Our curriculum aims to develop each person’s unique character.
Here are some qualities in diversity we are looking to grow:
Race • Color • National origin • Religion • Sex • Disability: physical/mental • Ages 40 and older • Marital status • Sexual orientation • Genetic information • Medical condition • Gender identity/expression • Political activities/affiliations •Military/veteran status • Status as a victim of domestic violence, assault, and/or stalking
Twice a year, we offer eight scholarships (16 per year) to new and returning students to study any class they’d like at the Nerdist School.
The application opens on January 1st and July 1st each year. Applications are due on or before 11:59 PM the following January 15th or July 15th after the application link is posted. After submissions, a select few will be invited to a workshop where they will meet our Program committee as well as have the opportunity to improvise with them. Absolutely NO performance or writing experience is needed, just a desire to learn comedy! Awards are given out to eight incredible applicants the following month.
Check back on this page for the link to apply on January 1st and July 1st. Specifics on how to apply will be on the application itself. Best of luck!
Did you know we are the only comedy theater that has a dedicated person to investigate complaints of discrimination?!? Daniel Younathan is our theater’s inclusion advocate. He works on behalf of the student body, performers, and visitors. He’s here for you! If you have any complaints, questions, concerns, comments, or recommendations, email Daniel at email@example.com.
We have a Facebook page! Join it and join our growing community of diverse people, inclusive programs, and share your forward thinking with everyone at the theater.
Our program is still growing, so let’s grow this opportunity together!
WE. WANT. YOU!
